Faith’s Chili

When the ingredients in this classic recipe come together, the flavor naturally occurs. In as little as 30 minutes you can serve this balanced fat burning meal.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 pounds ground turkey breast or ground chicken breast or ground beef or a meatless alternative such as Beyond, Impossible and Gardein Beefless Ground
  • 2 medium zucchinis, halved sliced
  • 1 medium red pepper, cored and diced
  • 1 medium green pepper, cored and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 (15 oz) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 (15 oz) cans of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 (15 oz) cans of garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes, un-drained
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 TBSP chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • Sea salt to taste

Method:

  1. In a large pot brown turkey with onions and drain off excess fat. Place vegetables, half the garlic and oil in a pot and sauté until tender. 
  2. Add beans and undrained tomatoes
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 to 60 minutes (or to your desired consistency). Add spices and the rest of the garlic; mix well.
  4. Simmer for five more minutes
  5. Add pepper and sea salt to taste

Serves: 8

Serving size: 2 ½ Cups for men, 2 Cups for women

APPROXIMATE NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS PER SERVING: 500 Calories, 38 grams of protein, 58 grams of carbohydrates, 13 grams of fat, 13 grams of fiber.

    I use the same recipe! I made it this week. Instead of garbanzo beans, I add pi to beans. Very tasty!
