What Makes Us Fat?

Why do you think most people gain unwanted weight? Is it too much food? Maybe it's lack of exercise.
Have you ever heard that carbohydrates make you fat? Maybe you have heard that eating fat is how most people get fat. Anyone ever tell you that if you want to lose weight you better not eat after 6pm? The reason people gain unwanted pounds can vary, but at the end of the day there is a truth - a principle for why people gain weight.
Unwanted Weight Gain
If you eat an entire pizza right before bed you're going to gain weight. If you eat a 24 ounce steak and an enormous potato late at night - you're probably going to gain a few pounds. This said, why is it that some people are gaining weight and all they eat are salads and lean protein sources like fish, tofu, chicken and turkey breast? Surprisingly, if you're eating too little you may gain weight.
You heard me correct. There are people living on restricted calories and is gaining weight. The truth is this ... it's not solely about calories, but more about getting an adequate amount of nutrition in the form of protein, carbohydrates, fats and fiber.
Calories Do Count
It is important that you understand that calories do count, but not as much as you would believe. For instance, if you eat only 1200 calories of fat, you may lose weight in the beginning, but you will also be tossing your metabolism into a tizzy. Frankly put, our bodies need fat along with protein and carbohydrates to maximize life. If you aren't getting an adequate amount of fat, you can't absorb such vitamins as A, D, E and K. Being deficient of these vitamins can cause you to experience many health hardships. If you're not consuming an adequate amount of protein or carbohydrates you're body will rob your lean muscle tissue (slowing your metabolism).
When I say calories don't count, they do, but not like most people think. You want to right amount of calories in the form of getting the protein, carbohydrates and fat that benefits your body and brain.
My Recommendation
Education is essential in being successful with your weight. When you have the knowledge you control the power or direction you want to move with your body and overall wellness. You don't have to be a nutrition scientist to figure this out.
